Maybe you would like to pick up some work teaching teachers! (It’s a blast – many of us on the BCECTA Executive Committee have been facilitating for the past few years, and it’s super rewarding!)
Our BCTF is looking for teachers and TTOC’s interested in becoming facilitators for two important new workshops: “Mental health Issues in the Classroom,” and “Bargaining: The School Union Team.” The first workshop is part of the Federation’s Professional and Social Issues series, while the second is with the School Union Representative Training program.
Successful applicants will be asked to attend mandatory training at the Federation’s Facilitator’s Institute Training at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, August 20-22, 2016 (expenses like gas mileage, a room on campus, and per diems for food are covered). The days you get booked to facilitate workshops are paid by the school district, who then expenses it to the union for reimbursement, so your paycheck just looks the same as always 🙂 Things like flights and hotel are covered if you get booked to facilitate for teachers outside of your local area, and you are not expected to do it at any personal financial cost, so food is covered also. It’s a neat way to see the province and gain some teaching experience that is ‘outside of the box’!
